Our Work

The Dominion Woman's Club carefully researches the many charitable opportunities that exist and selects those charitable organizations and causes that they feel meet their mission, will benefit from their support and meet the highest standard of fiscal responsibility.

Arts - The department is designed to encourage members to foster and support arts activities in all communities. We support art activities at the Fauquier County Emergency Shelter ''The HAVEN", and ACTS/Turning Points Emergency Shelter.

Conservation - The Conservation department focuses its attention on a Beautification program to educate the members about the importance of beautifying their communities, as well as learn about the importance of preserving natural resources. Projects are still under development.

Education - The department is designed to promote a commitment to lifelong learning and literacy awareness by encouraging members and others to foster and support educational opportunities in their communities. The club participates in the collection of Box Tops for Education in support of local schools, the collection of books (large and small print) in support of local nursing and assisted living homes, as well as participates in Adult Literacy/Tutoring.

The Education Committee meets the first Monday of the month at 7:30pm at the home of fellow member Beth Glaser.

Home Life - This department focuses on educating the community about financial needs, helping others and Women's Health awareness. The club participates in monthly collections for the Fauquier County Emergency Shelter ''The HAVEN", and ACTS/Turning Points Emergency Shelter. The club also sponsored 7 families through holiday gifts in 2007 at the ACTS/Turning Points Emergency Shelter.

The Home Life Committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Dominion Valley Country Club Sports Pavilion Board Room.

International Affairs - The department is designed to educate others about world needs and provide opportunities to offer support. Projects are still under development.

Public Affairs - The department focuses on educating the members and community about the importance of active citizenship, veteran's affairs and historic preservation.   The program also focuses attention on safety issues and educating the community about home and vehicle safety concerns. The club women are supporting the Fisher Houses in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Other projects are still under development.

The Public Affairs Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm (location TBD).

Juniorette Program - Through the President's Special Project, the Dominion Woman's Club also sponsors a newly established Juniorette Club called The Dominion Sisterhood Juniorette Club.

The Juniorettes meet the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 -8:00pm at the home of fellow member Nanette McKeel Petrella located in the Dominion Valley Country Club neighborhood. Please contact Raine Petrella at Raine_2010@yahoo.com for more information.
